In Jaraguá do Sul, music and dance flow constantly and freely through the veins of its inhabitants, who are descendants of Italian, Polish, Hungarian and German immigrants. In every family there was invariably one member who played a musical instrument, sang, or at the very least was an avid listener. But one thing was missing; a place where people could meet to enjoy and appreciate the music. In time, the Festival-Escola de Musica Erudita de Santa Catarina (Femusc) was created with a capacity for over 100.000 people and there, every January, international musicians and artists from the world over perform, enabling students of music to learn from the invited professional experts and teachers.
