There’s more

More in Brasilia!

Catetinho
Designed by the architect Oscar Niemeyer, was the first local government headquarters and residence of President Juscelino Kubitschek in the new capital. The house, which is an example of the fifties architecture, has its floor suspended on piles.

The J K Memorial
Within this memorial lie the remains of Juscelino Kubitschek, together with his personal documents and possessions, which tell a little of the life and works of the ex President. Here you will also find the Casa de Cultura which promotes an extensive selection of cultural programmes.

Palacio da Alvorada
This, the first Presidential official residence, was one of Niemeyer’s earliest projects and was completed prior even to the selection of the Plano Piloto, (the Brasilia Capital Pilot Plan). Noteworthy are the white marble columns.

A spectacular sunset!
At the end of the day, nature offers a spectacular show. It appears as a melting rainbow, tingeing the sky with the spectrum of all its colours. According to Lucio Costa, “in Brasilia, the sky is the sea”. Seeing this magic moment from the Torre de TV (television tower) one can understand why Brasilia has been declared by Unesco as a World Heritage Site.

Do not miss this
One of the most famous Brasilia Night Spots lies underground. Yes, really! The Clube de Choro de Brasilia, designed by Niemeyer, is situated beneath the Eixo Monumental Oeste. Here you will enjoy music of the highest quality.
