Look at the Quality Curitiba has to offer!
In the area surrounding the Largo da Ordem and the Praça da Memória are six streets, which on every Sunday morning are filled with as many as 1300 artists and artisans displaying their goods. Paintings, sculptures, marquetry, embroidery and lace table cloths all have one thing in common. They are all made with loving care.
Boca Maldita (Cursed Mouth)
At the end of the General Osorio square, the most tree-lined of Curitiba, there is a modern sculpture in the form of a gaping mouth, from which the teeth have been drawn. This is a memorial to commemorate the meeting point of irate journalists and writers, who gathered at this spot to vent their spleen, and deride politics, culture and society in general.
Memorial Polonês (Polish Memorial)
Nestling within a bosque are six pine log cabins, built by the immigrants. This memorial was inaugurated in 1980 by Pope Joao Paulo II.
Look at these colours!
The squares, gardens, parks and flowerbeds that flank Curitiba’s Avenues are a blaze of colour, with flowers grown in the city horticultural gardens and replaced four times a year. You will find Amor-Perfeito (Pansy), Beijinho, Crista de Galo (Joseph’s Coat), Cravinas (Grass Pink), Lirios (Lily), Petunias, Malvas (Hibiscus), Geraniums and Palms.
Don’t miss this spectacular trip!
The Litorina Serra Verde descends the “Serra do Mar”, through wild gardens of Hydrangea and Lady of the Night, passing over bridges and viaducts, around craggy cliffs. On the way, you will pass waterfalls like the 70m high Veu da Noiva, (Bride’s Veil). Your first stop should be Morretes, and there do try the “Barreado”, a substantial meal, much beloved by the cattle drovers, and accompanied by a banana rum drink. You will return by taking the Estrada da Graciosa.
